Impact of Institutional Quality on Multilateral Aid in Nigeria

The linkage between quality of institutions and economic performance nations has generated a lot interest among scholars, due to their influence on development many countries effective use resources including foreign aid from multilateral organizations. Two strands theories emerge the institutions-multilateral aids nexus: those for benefits growth development; harms caused by aid. research objective is investigate impact institutional in Nigeria. To do this, study applied auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds testing approach. Data were sourced ICRG data, WGI QoG database, Transparency International, World Development Indicators (WDI). findings show that variables not have any Nigeria, except ‘independence judiciary’ which appeared statistically significant. In short-run analysis, disequilibrium long-run equilibrium corrected next quarter period about 25%; almost all are significantly influencing It therefore recommended donor agencies should consider other factors negatively official assistance (ODA) such as politics, location colonial history.
